  Hermetic Qabbalistic Theurgy and Its

Symbolic Influence on the Western Mind

              Copyright © 2006 Osmani Rodriguez

There are many ways to look at the art of Theurgy but only a few real requirements to the mastery of it, which, in my opinion are discipline, imagination, perseverance and faith. What is Theurgy and what is its purpose? Well, Theurgy or what the moderns term crudely as Magic, is the ability to create or tap into various archetypes that exist in the Qabbalistic third world known as Yetzirah or what the Psychologist Carl Jung and writer Joseph Campbell call the collective unconscious. According to the Dogmatic Qabbalists magic is nothing but a charging of Olam Yetzirah and the Sephiroth in that particular Qabbalistic world. The Theurgist accomplishes this through a long study and memorization of divine names along with either positive or negative affirmations, depending whether he is invoking or evoking. Subsequently these prayers or affirmations are directed to the subconscious to cause an effect in Assiah, the world of matter in which we live in. The interesting thing about Theurgy is that it is much like performing a solo drama or dramatic mystery play with the Higher Self and the multi-universe or Macrocosm. The question most magicians cannot answer is whether the electro magnetic fields or beings they encounter about their sphere of sensation while performing ritual work are real entities, or just parts of their own mind made manifest from Yetzirah to Assiah. For as we are created in the image of Deity so also as sons, we wish to create with the will and the word as does  our creator. So Theurgy, in some sense, is the ability of the higher will to take on the persona of a God, which we create through the imagination. Thus this enables the Theurgist to affect change in Assiah for his or her betterment, creating the propensity to become an illuminated human being. This act of empowering the ego with the ultra positiveness of the Self is justified, as long as it is in concordance with our highest aspirations to transcend the dross of the polluting influences we collect through life in Malkuth and Assiah. The problems the aspiring Adept of Theurgy faces like most who practice this dangerous art of playing with the Yetziratic world of symbols and emotions is madness or an inflation of the ego. For example, many magicians belonging to orders like the G.D., A.A., and O.T.O. claim to have crossed a so-called abyss or the Sephira of Da`at where there resides, according to Mathers and Crowley, some type of monster lurking to devour the aspirant. In my opinion this is complete nonsense If in fact there is a monster or a Choronzon as they wish to call it in Da`at, it was put there as an imprinted archetype which is taught and learned by the adepts going through Mather's and Crowley's clandestine initiatory orders. These misguided individuals have brought the dweller on the threshold into the Sanctum Sanctorum, which is an error they should have foreseen. But then again look at the history of these individuals and their orders; they were all unhinged egomaniacs who were themselves a product of their own lies and obsessions lurking in Yetzirah. Just refer to R.A. Gilberts Golden Dawn Scrap Book published by The Aquarian Press and you will see exactly what I mean. This misinterpretation of the Sephira Da`at is much due to a lack of study in traditional or Rabbinical Dogmatic Qabbalah. For the Zohar states quite plainly as does the Bahir that Da`at is known as the Prince of Peace. Da`at is the pre-manifestation of the Sephira Tiphareth which it becomes and who's ruling Archangel is Uriel. the light of God. Evil itself is found in the universe of Tohu-Chaos where the breaking of the vessels, the Shevirah or 288 sparks fell. This occurred when the Creator first imbued them with his great light, which they could not sustain. These vessels or fallen sparks are the Qlippoth or shells of evil, which lie below Malkuth. There are many shells of evil or hierarchies of fallen Angels or Spirits which are sustained by this worlds many vices. Many of these beings take a form or life of their own even if they were at first nothing but the macabre thoughts or evil inclinations of the human psyche. The Qlippoth are the Devils that may be evoked utilizing Hebrew and Greek influenced Medieval Grimores such as the Heptameron and The Greater and Lesser Clavicules of Solomon the King. Much of the confusion found in the so-called western mystery tradition concerning the Sephira Da`at, seems to be brought about by the Golden Dawns 4=7 diagram of the Garden of Eden after the fall. I will not get into this issue here, for that topic is an article within itself. Anyway most magicians influenced by the theories taught in these clandestine orders may very well think they are in Atziluth, the world of emanations. In reality the threshold they cross from Tiphareth to Keter, through Da`at, is nothing but a Yetzeratic play ground of universal symbols given life by the adept's own beliefs. Many would argue over this viewpoint but Yetzirah is what it is, the world of ever-changing symbols and emotions. The universal archetypes, which are always, the same but adjust themselves accordingly to the mercy of time, just as fashions do through each decade or aeon. The history of Theurgy in the ancient world has its roots in four primary cultures, the Egyptian, Hebrew, Greek and Persian. True Hermetic Magic deals with an intermingling of these various cultures and their religious beliefs. The Gnostic or Hellenistic Jewish stream was added and came out of an anti-cultural sentiment, which certain Semites or Essenes in Outremer held towards the Pharisaic and Sadduceaic traditionalist views concerning the Demiurgos god Y.H.V.H. The first philosopher to utilize the name Theourgia was a Hellenized Chaldean, Julianus, who lived in the time of the Emperor Marcus Aurelius (161-180 c.e.). The word Theourgia itself is not just another term for magic but in reality it means "divine work". If the adept of theurgy refers to either the Eneads of Plotinus or the Mysteries of Iamblichus one will at once notice that for the divine will to function properly it must be in harmony with the laws of the universe and its multiple forms of Gods, Angels, Agathodaimons, Devils and Kakodaimons. The Theurgist's one true aim is to return to a realm resembling that which the Romans called the Elysium Fields. This heaven like world is truly reached when man no longer is influenced by the seven principle planets, the twelve signs of the zodiac and their ruling Genii. The Theurgist working through the Self or Ruach Ha Qodesh represented by the Sephira Tiphareth in the Master Mason degree, may reach a full comprehension from the ray of light received from the supernal soul triad known as the Yechidah, Chiah, and Neshamah.. Consequently and symbolically this is the highest and purist point of origin for the soul before its descent and incarnation within Olam Assiah, the world of action and matter. This to the Hebrews was known as the Merkaba, the work of the Chariot, whose archetypal secrets are contained within the Hebrew letters Cheth and Beth. The letter Beth as I described in a previous article is the house or Temple of the Lord symbolically. The very structure of this letter represents a Temple or Lodge, the letter being open in the north or dark quarter. This letter itself is composed of three Vavs one in the east, south and west. The letter Vav represents a nail and is the letter, which symbolically holds the foundation of the Tabernacle in place. If one adds the three Vavs that compose or make the letter Beth we get a sacred number of Israel, the number 18, which is the word Chai, meaning life or life force. We see many Jewish people with this word about their necks in chains of gold or silver; it is a word of great significance for them. The letter Chet, the first letter of the word life is composed and is emblematic of the two pillars. This letter is composed of the two Hebrew letters Vav and Zayin, the nail and the sword. The Vav is the pillar Yakin, the Or Yashar or descending masculine light and the Zayin, Boaz, the Or Chozer, the descending feminine light. These two letters are joined to form the letter Chet by a thin bridge or canopy of light called a Chatoteret. This canopy of light and stars, which is also seen on the Tarot card, the Chariot, is the Qabbalistic secret of the light, which emanates from the Sephira Keter. The word for stone in Hebrew is (Aben), this word is a combination of the words father (Ab) and (Ben) son. Notice that the letter Beth which I explained above, is between the letters Aleph and Nun. The Beth being emblematic of the Covenant or Sanctum Sanctorum of the Holy Spirit shared between the Father and the Son. This cube is the corner stone that was rejected by the builders. The rejection is symbolized by the slaying of Jesus, and Osirus resurrected as Horus,  This Cube or Stone represents the knowledge of the infinite word spoken by Diety when it sealed the six directions in space known as the height, depth, East, West, South and North. The Qabbalists have a specific Theurgic ritual, which is done by the oral vibration of these six directions and the three letters Yod, Heh. Vav and its permutations. I will display the outline of this ritual, synchronized with a Rosicrucian touch, a little further on in this article. To the Rosicrucian's this stone is known as the Philosophers Stone or Stone of the Wise. This stone or (Ahben) has the ability to transmute (Chiah) the life source of the Natural Man through the five stages of Alchemical transformation known as The Mineral, Vegetable, Animal, Man and Super Man. The Stone also affects the seven primary principles so important to the Rosicrucian Alchemists and their Great Work. These function concordantly through the power of the Stone of the Wise and are known as Mercury, Sulpher, Salt, Fire, Water, Air and Earth. These are the very components comprising the mystery of both the Pythagorean Triangle and The Rose Croix of both the Freemasons and the Rosicrucian's. The Hebrew word for Rose Croix is Shoshanah Tslav. Shoshanah meaning Rose has a numerical value of 661 which in turn when added as 6+6+1=13, which is the numerical value for the Hebrew word for one, Achad. The Rose is said in the Sepher Zohar to have 13 petals, these petals allude to the 13 attributes of Compassion. The Qabbalistic Freemason and Rosicrucian would know as the attributes or Mysteries pertaining to the Sephira or sphere on the tree of life known as Tiphareth (Beauty). The word Tslav, which in Hebrew means a cross or crucifix, has a numerical value of 122, which in turn if added as 1+2+2=5, the number of the Blazing Star or Pentagram. This itself symbolizes the name Yeheshua and is also the emblematic symbol of the five elements known as Fire, Water, Air, Earth and Spirit. If Shoshanah (Rose) 6+6+1=13 and Tslav(cross) 1+2+2=5 are added they equal the mystery number of life, 18. Chaiah. I previously mentioned and attributed Chaiah to the three Vavs 6+6+6 composing the letter Beth which if added together give the same numerical value of 18. Beth is the Holy House  where the mystery of the Rose and Cross are enacted as an I.N.R.I. archetype in the slaying and raising. Therefore the mystery of the Rose Croix may be surmised as thus, and I will quote a section in the opening part of the Sepher Zohar, "And there are five strong petals on which the Rose (Shoshanah) is set and they were called salvations and now they are known as five gates. And this Rose is called the cup of blessing, of which it is said: "I will take up the cup of salvation..." (Psalms 116:13). The Rose Croix itself is a symbol of self-sacrifice and regeneration. It is the mystery of life (Chaih) exemplified by the very two Hebrew letters making the word. Chet is the union of the male and female as one, becoming a container, which holds the seed or letter, Yod that is the elixir or (Mayim) water found in the worlds above and the worlds below. This is the mystery of the Sangraal or Holy Grail, which the symbol of the Rose Croix itself expounds. There is a connection to Masonic and Rosicrucian symbolism, of which some claim there is not. For example, if we take the names of the three Great Grand Masters of Freemasonry in their true Hebrew spellings with their numerical value which are as follows; MLK ShLMH (King Solomon)=465, ChVRM MLK TzVR (Hiram King of Tyre)=640, and ChVRM ABIV (Hiram Abif)=273 and add them together we get the number 1,378 which is the number for the year of the birth of the Rosicrucian Pater, Frater C.R.C. If we take the number for Hiram Abif 273 and investigate further with Gem Atria we will find that the sentence, "The Stone which the Builders rejected" found in (Psalms 118:22) also has a numerical value of 273, when all the letters in the sentence are added. The Hebrew words "hidden light" (AVR GNVZ), "rebuked" (GOR) and "took away" (GRO) each have a numerical value of 273 and bear particular esoteric connections with Hiram Abif. It is my belief that the basis for Freemasonry, Rosicrucianism, Alchemy and Semitic Theurgy was knowledge which the Knights Templars learned and kept secret during their time in Outremer (Palestine). This secret knowledge, I believe, then spread through Europe years later after their downfall. The true basis of Theurgy is based in two works known as the Corpus Hermeticum and the Greek Magical Papyri. The Corpus Hermeticum is a theoretical treatise which is at the very core of Theurgic practice but more so from a contemplative perspective. Where on the other hand, the more obscure Magical Papyri of Abaris is the true Grimore of the Hermetic arts, not the erroneous Hermetic science taught by the Medieval or Victorian Magicians. The Hermetic science or art has it roots in the fourth or fifth century C.E. The birth of Hermetic thought took place in Alexandria on the Nile Delta. Here there was an intermingling of many cultures, mainly the Greek and the Egyptian, but also the Jewish-Greek school of Alexandria with its two famous philosophers, Aristobulus and Philo. Hermetic philosophy is based on and named after the Greek god Hermes who is the manifested archetype of the Egyptian god Thoth or Dhwty (Jhuty). He is also known as Hermes Trismegistos-The Thrice-Greatist who the medieval Magicians like Ficino and Pico de Mirandola to name a few, erroneously thought was a contemporary of Moses the Hebrew Patriarch. There was also the Gnostic stream, which also influenced the Magical Papyri to some extent. The Gnostics believed the Demiurgos God Y.H.V.H or Yaldabaoth and his seven Archons or Angels known as Athoth, Eloaiou, Astaphaios, Yao, Sabaoth, Adonin and Sabbede, were all evil. The principle intent of the Archon Yaldabaoth, who is also known as Ariael, the lion faced, is to keep human beings ignorant of the Pleroma and bound as slaves in servitude to him and his Pharisaic law. According to the Gnostics, Jesus Christ was not the son of Y.H.V.H or Demiurgos, but of the Pleroma. The Gnostics also believed that Jesus represented the symbolic serpent in the Garden of Eden who instructed Adam and Eve, through the archetype of the fruit, knowledge (Da'at), to understand (Binah), the wisdom (Chokmah), of the true androgynous primal light of the Crown (Keter) and its three negative veils above it. This is interesting because the name Naaserene is a Grecicized word of Hebrew origin for the word Nachesh meaning serpent advocate or follower. Strangely enough it should be remembered that the word Messiach and Nachesh both have a Gem atria value of 358. The Pleroma to the Gnostics is known as the illimitable, immeasurable and incomprehensible light, the father of the feminine Aeon known as Pistis Sophia(Faith Wisdom). The Aeon Sophia, who, according to the Gnostics gave birth to the Demiurgos God of the Pharisees Y.H.V.H. This, Sophia did from a thought, without the consent of her own maleness and that of the Pleroma. When she gave birth to Yaldabaoth, she hurled him with all her might as far from her and the higher worlds as possible, thus trying to conceal her error, which was made in ignorance. The being Yaldabaoth himself became a lesser Aeon then created the seven Archons, and with their assistance created our material world or Universe. The Gnostic concepts of divinity and light were very much influenced by the Bactrian or Persian Zoroastrian faith, and its dualistic doctrine based on a constant battle between light and darkness, represented by the benevolent Ahurah Mazda with his twenty-eight Izeds and the evil Ahriman with his minions of darkness. The fourth century philosopher and writer Philaster considered all Gnostic sects, the Naaseni, Cainites, Sethites and Ophites to be serpent worshipers. The Gnostics held the belief that all of the Patriarchs in the Bible were dupes to the Demiurgos God. They also considered Abraham and Moses inferior to Esau, Kora, The Sodomites and Judas Iscariot. To the Gnostics these villains of the Old and New Testaments were deemed instruments from the will of the Pleroma and Pistis Sophia. Their will being directed to the lower realms of manifestation to expose the lie of the Demiurgos or Pharisaic God, who is not the true Lord of Light or of the Aeons in general. It has been said by historians that the Neo-Platonic philosophy also influenced the Gnostics, of which it may very well have. The Gnostics believed that the material universe was an evil trap for the human soul. The soul was confined to matter by the creative act of the Demiurgos God, whose will those of this sect, was to usurp by strict adherence to their rituals and the avoidance of all materialistic temptations. Meanwhile the Neo-Platonist, Plotinus expressed that the Gnostic view of the Creator God and the material universe being evil was complete nonsense. Plotinus dedicated a tractate of his Enneads (ll:9) named; "Against the Gnostics; or Against Those that Affirm the Creator of the Cosmos and the Cosmos itself to be Evil." Returning thus to the magical Papyrus of Abaris, this little known Hellenistic- Hamito-Semitic Grimore exemplifies the nature in which Hermetic Theurgy was really practiced during the fifth and sixth centuries C.E. As a matter of fact the ritual known erroneously as the Invocation of the Born Less One by the practitioners of The Golden Dawn, A.A. and O.T.O. is from this very same book, (translation PGM V). The name of this ritual, which was made very cheeky by the Laird of Bolskine himself Frater Perdurabo, a.k.a Mr. Crowley was mistranslated, as was the whole ritual itself, which was published in 1853 by Goodwin. The Hermetic Papyrus of Abaris was found or stolen at Thebes sometime during Napoleon's conquest of Egypt in 1798. Somehow the papyrus itself ended up rather unscrupulously in the hands of an Armenian known as Jean D`Anastasi. This man supposedly purchased the entire Magical Papyrus and had it shipped to Europe. There it was sold to various museums like the National Bibliotheque in Paris, the British Museum, the Staatliche Museum in Berlin and the Rijksmuseum in Leiden. In 1986 Professor Hans Dieter Betz translated the German version of the Magical Papyrus of Abaris by Karl Preisendanz into English, making it available to all who have a real interest in this work either from an academic or practical perspective. There really is no excuse why an English-speaking Theurgist in our modern times would not work with or own this book, for it is authentic Hermeticism. The personal Theurgic rituals in the Papyrus, especially the words of power which are a mixture of Egyptian, Greek, Hebrew and Coptic may be committed to memory and used for personal practical work realized by the Theurgist, depending on the force he or she is attempting to either invoke or evoke. I will finish this paper with the outline of a practical ritual that I use and have had much success with. I will expound the ritual here supposing that the individual who learns it is already familiar with advanced Theurgy, Qabbalah and the use of symbolic Theurgic instruments. This particular ritual is based on the Qabbalistic Cube of Space. The six directions in space which I utilize are those found in the original Hebraic short version of the Sepher Yetzirah. See the short form in Rabbi Aryeh Kaplans translation of the Sepher Yetzirah or the gifted French Qabbalist Carlos Suares version (visit www.psyche.com), whom I thank eternally for opening my eyes to the atrocious Qabbalistic errors of the Victorian Magicians and their egotistical Magical Orders. I have the utmost respect for the Golden Dawn's ingenuity when it comes to their color flashing Theurgical Weapons, which I utilize, but I am sorry to say their Qabbalah is full of many, many errors. Any Freemason, Rosicrucian or occultist who has had the privilege to study with a Rabbi who is very well versed in the Qabbalah would agree with me. I will use the oriental aphorism when it comes to this sensitive subject amongst occultists, "How may you understand the flower if you do not fully comprehend the root." Studying traditional Qabbalah has done nothing but advance my knowledge of the Great Work not hinder it. In this ritual I make use of the two Hebrew vowels known as Patach and Segol. The vibration of these particular vowels, vibrated as Ah and Eh, activate the pillar Yakin which is the creative or white pillar as it is known in the so-called Western Mystery tradition. This allows the Qabbalistic Theurgist to enter into a state of Chokmah consciousness. The Patach itself is attuned to the Sephira Chokmah, it represents an opening to the divine creative aspect of oneself. According to the Chassidut it enables the active principle of Yah to reveal itself while in the act of invoking or praying. The Segol is connected to the Sephira Chesed, strangely this vowel signifies a remedy that functions for all the right reasons which cannot be explained because it just does. These two vowels actually hold the secret of the letter Dalet, which is the true Hebrew letter that connects the Sephiras Tiphareth and Keter as shown in the rightful Lurianic or Ari Tree. The Patach and the Segol represent the two great doors of the world. This thus leads the Magus to the state known by the traditional Qabbalists as non-Verbal Thought, which is alluded to meaning divine true wisdom in action.

The vibration of the three mother letters following the vowel vibrations is emblematic of the three primordial elements utilized from the center where the Tav, which signifies the end resides. The vibrated Aleph itself represents the primordial or first breath which holds the secret to the name YHVH or Havayah itself. The reason for this is due to the fact that an Aleph is actually composed of the letter Vav at its center with an upper and lower Yod. This thus gives the letter Aleph the numerical value of 26 the same numerical value of the name YHVH. As I stated previously the letter Vav is the cosmic nail which holds the keystone. It plays a crucial part with the vowel point known as a Cholem who's vowel sound is Oh, and is attributed to Zer Anpin the supernal man, Tiphareth or beauty. The vowel point Cholem has great significance concerning the resurrection of the body or soul. The Sepher Zohar states that the letter Vav is crowned with a Cholem at its head, thus alluding that the realm of the soul is in a man's thought or mind representing the Ruach Shel Ha Mashiach or the son of immortality.

The letter Mem which represents the belly or watery veil holds a very crucial meaning for the Qabbalist. The letter Mem as stated rightly in the Zohar is attributed to the Sephira Chokmah which is the higher watery Mercurial creative Logos of the upper and lower worlds. It is considered both masculine and feminine, the open Mem having feminine attributes like a belly to give birth and the closed or Mem final as masculine. In Chassidut Qabbalah the open Mem represents exoteric knowledge while the closed represents the esoteric or hidden meaning of the Torah.

The letter Shin or fiery veil itself is considered the root of the Tree of life, it is the eternal flame. This letter is emblematic of the fiery scarlet garment worn by the High Priest or Kohan of a Royal Arch Chapter. It can also be noted that the letter Shin in the Sepher Zohar is known as the letter of the three fathers or patriarchs, for this letter is composed of three Vavs with three Yods on top each Vav. The patriarchs are shown as thus on the Shin, Abraham to the right which is the Sephirah Chesed, Isaac to the left which is the Sephirah Gevurah and Jacob in the middle which is the Sephirah Tiphareth. The fiery Shin may also represent the zeal and fervor of the three primary officers of a Royal Arch Chapter, the High Priest Joshua the son of Josedek, Zerubabel, prince of the people and Haggai the Prophet. It may also be noted that the three signs in Blue Lodge Masonry allude to the three elemental mother letters themselves. The head represents the letter Shin or fire and is attributed to the E.A. , the Aleph to air, the breast which is attributed to the F.C. and the stomach to the letter Mem which is water and is attributed to the M.M. If a M.M. does the signs while contemplating the Lurianic Tree he will notice they match the three horizontals mentioned in the Sepher Yetzirah quite perfectly.

I truly hope this article and ritual lead to an interest towards true scholarship in traditional Qabbalah and its practical ramifications amongst the adherents of the so-called Western Mystery Tradition.

Take the altar and drape it in black satin and face it east using the bearing of a compass to get the proper cardinal direction. At the top square of the alter put a lamp or white candle. At the right corner of the alter put a small pewter or silver cup full of water. At the left corner of the Altar put a small incense holder containing the scents Cinnamon and Frankincense. These items should be placed so that they are in the form of a triangle to the Theurgist when staring at them. In the center of this triangle place a Rose Croix, I myself have a Victorian Hermetic one, but a large brass gold cross with an enameled red rose will do. You may also use a brass cross and put a real rose on the center of the cross. To the right where the small cup is, place your wand, (I myself use what I call a Mazzloth wand, inscribed with Hebrew words of power in gold paint and flashing colors) the wand should be placed so that it is inside the triangle but lying vertically on the altar, the cup to its right. Next to the incense burner place your theurgic sword, the incense burner should be to the left of the Sword. (I myself use a Masonic sword ) Put on a white linen robe or what ever color robe you prefer to work in. Light the lamp and the incense, stare at the lamp and rose Croix and take deep relaxing breaths, a yogic breath may be used if one wishes. When centered and relaxed pick up the sword and go to the Northeast corner of the alter and hold the sword in front of you with the right hand, (if left handed then the left). Then say in a powerful voice: "Hekas Hekas esti Beebeloi, Prokool o Prokool esti Profani". Return to the altar and perform the banishing ritual of the Pentagram with the sword. When finished lay the sword on the Altar and pick up the wand and perform the Qabbalistic cross. Remember Chesed is to the right of the body and Geburah the left, in Freemasonry Yakin is the right and Boaz the left, this is the correct way to perform the Qabbalistic cross the middle pillar represents the Theurgist himself. After performing the Qabbalistic cross put down the wand and pick up the cup and trace a cross with it in front of you. Then below the cross trace an invoking water triangle imagine it in blue fire. While tracing the invoking water triangle say, (you should memorize it) "And so therefore first the priest who governeth the works of fire must sprinkle with the lustral waters of the loud resounding sea." Put down the cup and pick up the incense burner and trace a cross in the air in front of you. Then below the cross trace an invoking fire triangle while saying "And when after all the phantoms have been banished thou shall see that holy and formless fire that fire which darts and flashes through the hidden depths of the universe, here thou the voice of fire." Put down the incense burner and perform the adoration of the Lord of the Universe with the sign of the enterer and the sign of silence. Say: "Holy art thou Lord of the Universe", do the sign of the enterer, "Holy art thou whom nature hath not formed", do the sign of the enterer, "Holy art thou the vast and the mighty one" do the sign of the enterer, "Lord of the light and of the darkness", do the sign of silence. You are now ready to commence the ritual. Do three circumambulations around the altar while holding your wand and return to the West side of the altar and face the East. Perform the L.V.X. signs used by the Golden Dawn, while performing each sign say in their order: "The sign of Osirus slain, L the sign of the mourning of Isis, V the sign of Apophis Typhon, X the sign of Osirus risen, resurrected" Next say the letter while performing the sign L V X, Lux, the light of the cross, you should be in the Osirus slain posture. then bring your hands up slowly as if supplicating and throw the head back and vibrate "I A O" then take a deep breath and vibrate "Or Beh Ha Arakh Ha" , then say: "Let the divine light descend". It should be noted here that each movement should flow with the Mantras similar to a martial arts form or Kata. After the L.V.X. signs, point the wand towards the East and trace an invoking fire hexagram while vibrating "A.R.A.R.I.T.A". envision the fire hexagram in red fire, point the wand towards the center of the fire hexagram and vibrate "Anee Yod Heh Vav Heh Elohenu". Going clockwise around the altar point the wand toward the South and trace the earth or true Magen David or hexagram vibrating "ARARITA". Point wand towards center of the Magen David vibrate "Anee Yod Heh Vav Heh Elohenu", the hexagram should be visualized in red and blue flames. Proceeding in a circular direction around the altar point the wand to the West and trace an invoking water Hexagram while vibrating "ARARITA", then point the wand towards the center of the air Hexagram and vibrate "Anee Yod Heh Vav Heh Elohenu". Moving clockwise around the altar point the wand towards the North and trace an air Hexagram while vibrating "ARARITA", then point the wand towards the middle of the water Hexagram and vibrate "Anee Yod Heh Vav Heh Elohenu". Return to the West of the altar facing east, holding the wand in your right hand. Vibrate "Haaaa Kabeer Adreekhal Shel Haaaa Olam". After vibrating this, vibrate "Ah Eh" now touch the chest with the right hand, which is holding the wand and vibrate "Aleph". Now move the wand vertically upwards and touch your forehead and vibrate "Sheen" Bring the wand vertically downwards and touch your stomach and vibrate " Mem". Now vibrate " Baruch Atah Adonai Elohaynu Melech Ha Olam". Now point the wand upwards and vibrate "Yod Heh Vav", point the wand downwards and vibrate "Yod Vav Heh", point the wand forward or East and vibrate "Heh Yod Vav", turn clockwise in the same spot and point the wand West and vibrate "Heh Vav Yod", turn clockwise again and point the wand towards the South and vibrate "Vav Yod Heh", turn clockwise again and point the wand towards the North and vibrate "Vav Heh Yod". You should imagine or see the Hebrew letters in flames in their respected directions. Face the East again standing on West side of the Altar, do the sign of Osirus slain, throw back your head and raise your hands slowly as if supplicating the light to descend and vibrate "BERESHEET BARA ELOHEEM ET HA SHAMAYEEM ET VE HA ARETZ". Next vibrate the seven double letters following the order of the six directions in space but stay facing the East with your wand in your hand do not move vibrating, "BAYT - GEEMEL - DAHLET -KAHPH-RAYSH-PAYH", then bring the wand, holding it vertically with both hands towards the heart or sternum and vibrate "TAHV". All the Hebraic letters should be seen in white or electric blue flames around the Theurgist. Complete the ritual with the Golden Dawns LVX signs and the Qabbalistic Cross.
